AICRI’s Successful Outreach Activities in Boston

In late November 2022, AICRI had a highly successful trip to Boston. This included a networking evening called 'Cancer Research Across Borders - Ireland's Reach' organised by the Ireland America Science Forum, Boston College, the Consulate General of Ireland in Boston and UCD Alumni organisation. Bringing together a sizeable contingent from the Irish diaspora in the Boston area, the event provided an opportunity to highlight AICRI and focus more broadly on US-Ireland collaboration in cancer research and areas for future potential partnership.

L-R: Dr Laoise Moore (Consul General of Ireland to New England), Mr Ciaran Briscoe (AICRI and North East Cancer Research & Education Trust), Ms Sharon Cunningham (Shorla Oncology), Prof. William Gallagher (UCD Conway Institute and Co-Lead, All-Island Cancer Research Institute), Prof. Robert Kaplan (Harvard Business School), Prof. Gerardine Doyle (UCD Smurfit Business School), Dr Laura MacConaill (Dana Farber Cancer Institute) and Dr Maire Quigley (Ireland America Science Forum and CRISPR Therapeutics).

Additionally, highly productive meetings were held with leading researchers in Harvard Medical School, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Northeastern University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Broad Institute, along with key oncology industry leaders. The AICRI Team were glad to find unanimous support for the AICRI vision, especially in terms of cross-border and inter-institutional partnership.
