AICRI Secures Funding from ITI to conduct Industry Scoping Exercise

AICRI/University College Dublin in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast has been successful in securing funding under InterTradeIrleland’s Synergy Programme to conduct a study to evaluate the current landscape and economic potential of precision oncology/digital health on the island of Ireland.

This Industry Scoping Exercise will determine the potential for precision oncology innovation on the island, including the opportunities that will accrue for cross-border Business to Business (B2B) opportunities, particularly in the Small Medium Enterprises (SME) sector. The scoping exercise will include a landscape analysis of what companies/entities are currently active in the domains of precision oncology and digital health, coupled with detailed analysis to develop both the evidence base and inform guidance to empower this sector to flourish. An economic evaluation will determine both current and potential value and return on investment (ROI) that precision oncology could deliver on the island of Ireland.

Salutem Insights Ltd has been selected to carry out this study and it is expected their report will be launched at an in-person workshop in Spring 2024.

This workshop will bring together academic institutions, cancer researchers and industry partners along with representatives from InterTradeIreland, Invest Northern Ireland, Catalyst, IDA, Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland.
